I hope you had a fantastic time over the Easter holidays. Everyone wants to feel loved and appreciated and the onus is on us to ensure that we make someone feel good about themselves. For many showing appreciation means saying Thank you but to me that’s only the beginning.True appreciation is not only recognizing someone’s excellent efforts and contribution. It’s about respecting and showing gratitude in many tiny little ways. Here are a few simple easy ways to show appreciation.
Offer praise publicly
It’s a beauty when you can publicly give someone a complement. It feels good to be told. “You were terrific” or You did a great job” and even better when it’s done publicly before others. Don’t be afraid to hug someone and speak out about the things you admire about them most.
Write a note
Hand written notes speak volumes. It shows how much thought and effort you put into it all. It doesn’t have to be a special occasion. In my eyes everyday above ground to me is a special occasion. Let people know how you feel. Let them know you are grateful to have them in your life.
We love it when we are celebrated (including me) whether it be birthday or an achievement, engagement, baby shower or the opening of a business. We love to be celebrate. It’s really great when other people recognize milestones. It’s so easy to say Congratulations. Text it, say it or email it. Technology has maybe it so easy for us to keep in touch.
Leave them a gift
This does not have to cost a fortune. It can be something they like,a candy bar, gift card, hand written note. It can be anything, something you know will bring a smile to their faces. Any small gesture can make a huge difference. Make the effort today.
We often forget to offer a kind word or show appreciation to those around us, Even I fall short of this but I’m working on it. You should do too. Always remember, A person who feels appreciated, will always do more than what is expected.
Have a great week loves!
